ARE YOU A SHOPAHOLIC How you ever found yourself strolling around a mall, with endless stores in sight, and the desire to buy everything in sight? Well, you might be a shopaholic, losing your identity, and ruining your life! One out of 20 of us -- women and men alike -- can't control the urge to spend, according to the moneycentral.msn.com website. When shopping is in your mined 24/7 and your bills are pilling up while your money in the bank is decreasing you are on the verge of being a shopaholic and/or losing your identity.
You spend everyday finding an outfit for a “special” occasion or a party. Miss Huliaris said, “Shopping is magnificent. I sometimes find it difficult to control myself when I have an urge to buy, buy, and buy. We often use the excuse that we, shoppers, need a new outfit for a special occasion, when we actually need to purchase something in order to feel better.” I help Miss Huliaris out and one time she needed to go to a party but “didn’t have anything to wear,” so she went to stores and even if she couldn’t find an outfit she needed, she still found “some” clothes for regular days.
I am reading a book, “Best Friends for Never,” by Lisi Harrison there a four snobbish girls that have like 100 pairs of shoes each and they were upset that they couldn’t go shopping on the labor day weekend because they wanted to buy more shoes. They read Seventeen and Teen Vogue magazines and everything they see they get in the stores that same day. If you have this problem you need help and these four girls think there all best friends but they gossip about each other and start talking about girls that according to them wish that they were them. Keep reading and see if this can help you find yourself and find good people around you.
HOW TO HELP YOURSELF
To help yourself you must first take a paper and write down how much you have of shirts, pants, skirts, shoes, and real jewelry. If any of these past the number 20 you got a shopaholic problem. To fix this problem, you must first freeze or stop using your credit cards. Now take a paper and write down everything you like to do with your friends except anything that you spend money! For example, swimming in a pool, going over each others houses, watching a movie at someone’s house, or eating a snack or eating something at home. Now promise yourself you won’t buy anything for the rest of you life………………………………just kidding for at least a month. If you can’t keep this promise yourself that have a family meeting and discuss a limit that you can spend and if you go over budget you will have to get a job and pay those extra bills. If none of this works you have such a big shopping problem that you must go to HELP!!!!
LOSING YOUR IDENTITY
Many children think when it comes to shopping you have to buy the celebrity clothes, clothes from the celebrity line and if you don’t shop celebrity type clothes, there is no point to shop. This may cause shopaholic problems because the celebrity clothes are expensive and you buy one celebrity shirt and you could buy 5 regular shirts with that money. The children are also on the verge to losing there identity because they won’t express the person they are and will look like everyone else. Children don’t realize some people just talk to them because they think they have the money to buy all these clothes and look exactly like them. “I think that when I buy something from the company Deer, I feel as if I am Amanda Bynes and I feel like I am not me but a CELEBRTITY!”
HELPING YOURSELF If you have this problem you should take out your clothes and throw them on your bed. Now make two piles, one pile of clothes that are not designer clothes. Now I want you to look at the non-designer clothes and try to find at least one outfit from the non-designer section. If you don’t have anything, DON’T go to the mall because this is not an excuse to go to the mall but I would like you to take 5 minutes and ask your mom or sister if they have regular clothes. If you have the money to buy designer clothes you will probably find at least one regular shirt and pants. Go to school in those clothes and see if your friends find you acting different, and don’t make an excuse just tell them you wanted to wear regular clothes. They don’t like you don’t bother because they don’t like you for who you are. Also, to find your real identity go to a regular store that a regular kid in your class recommended and find a couple of shirts (no more then 3 because we don’t want you to be a shopaholic) and 3 pants that “YOU” like and you can make 9 outfits which is more than enough for a while because I go to a school with a dress code and you just wash the clothes after you wear it and can wear once a week or so. This will lead you to find real friends and be yourself.
