All About Book Club

Many of you asked about my book club. In your comments under my article titled "Hesitant About Reading Harry Potter," you asked me to tell you about my book club in hopes of one day starting your own club. I would like to tell you about my book club here.
Ms. Scott started this book club last year when she realized that she loves to read and wants to talk about books with her friends. She got so excited about these books, that she wanted to share this excitement with others. She also realized that she had several friends who felt the same way and I was one of them. I was so excited to be a part of this group because I also love to talk about the books I read.
Last year, there were six of us in our club. I brought my friend from college to the book club too. We took turns meeting at each other's houses. If the meeting was at my house, I chose the book we would read. Everyone in the club is so different. Therefore, the books we read were very different.
We talk about what we liked about the book, what we didn't like. We talk about why characters say or do the things they say and do. We talk about other books that are similar and different. For some reason we always ended up talking about how books were similar to Harry Potter. It is a great joke with us!
We meet on the third Thursday every month. We have one month to read one book. Sometimes it is hard to finish a book, but we go to the meeting anyway because we are committed to being a part of the club.
It is a lot of fun and I encourage you to start your own club! All you need is a love for reading different books, and a few friends who share that love for reading. If you would like to start a book club, but you are not sure what to do, come and see me! Ask some of your friends if they would like to be in the club too. That's all you need to start! Good luck!
Happy Reading!
