"AH MAN! Here I go again thinking about running away just because of an argument with my parents" Leslie, 13, says. She realized that running away is not a way to solve everything. She knows the best way to solve the problem is to talk to her parents.

Many kids these days do not think about the cause & effect. After a few blocks or so, most kids forget why are they running away so they to go back home. Some keep on going for no big reason and that's when problem can happen. Jemairy Rodriguez 11, says "I believe the kids should go back home. Beside's how else they will survive with NO FOOD!"

  PROBLEM

The problem about running is that kids run away because they don't feel respected. They do not get treated right. Aliyah O'blenis 12, says, "Kids don't get treated right by not letting them be heard (Speak there mind)" For example Nicole Lee 28, says, "When a kid wants to say anything the adults won't let them speak their mind."

Kids who run away suffer of hunger and even can get a type of disease. The kids can get a type of disease by not eating for days or even get poisoned. What the child does not know is that all you get into is a horrible life. One bad thing can be like getting into DRUGS and you can even get kidnapped.

Many parents get caught up on wondering "What did we do wrong?!" Other parent's think kids run away because they want to have an adventure (freedom).

 WHAT TO DO!

Here are some questions you should ask yourself before running away

  • ¨ How will I survive?
  • ¨ Is running away safe?
  • ¨ If I end up into trouble who will I call?
  • ¨ Who can I count on to help me?
  • ¨ What are my other options?

TALKING TO SOMEONE

Talking to someone may be the best thing you ever did. Maybe talking to your best friend can help you, even the school counselor, or maybe telling your parents what's bugging you so you won't run away.

SOLUTION!

The solutions can be many. Something that can help is talking to someone. On the other hand, instead of running away you may get your mind off the problem by doing arts & crafts, listening to music, dancing around or even doing something adventurous...However, don't go doing something insane out on the streets.

DR.PHIL & OTHERS GENIOUS PEOPLE!

DR, PHIL: "Running to a boyfriend or girlfriend is not the answer, because you're not really running to them. You're running away from your problems at home." He says.

"At age six, Oprah was sent to live with her mother in Milwakee. Here she suffered a life of abuse. When she was 9, Oprah was raped by a male cousin. A male friend of Vernita's and Oprah's uncle both sexually molested Oprah when she was young. She kept the abuse as secret, but experienced anger and pain. She began to rebel. By the time she was 13, she had begun to run away and get into trouble." She says "he had some concerns about me making the best of my life, and would not accept anything less than what he thought was my best."
