Graduation Day

It was June 21, 2007. I was feeling great. It was my graduation day. I knew that my family was going to be very proud of me graduating from the 5th grade and public school and going into middle school. When all of our 5th grade teachers took us to the church down the block from the school, we had to line up in size order so we could be ready to go in the church. We finally arrived at the church where many families were taking pictures of their children because they were proud of us graduating. When we finally sat down, we sang one song after another. After we sang, we had to do the pledge and then we sang Lift Every Voice.
My memorable moment was when my principal was giving out awards. I thought I was getting an award but once he said “A student that came to school every day for 6 years, starting in kindergarten. For perfect attendance, Darren T,” the expression on my face and everybody else’s was shock. I had missed a day but I was proud for I had gotten a trophy for perfect attendance.
I was happy to get this special award. It made me feel special, and my parents were proud of me.
