I AM by Melissa Ly

Like the sun, i am bright
Through darkness I find my light

I am a race car
Always ready to run far

Like a dog, I am loyal
Searching for no more turmoil

I am a star girl
Up in the sky
Longing for no more goodbyes

Like a ocean full of water
Hoping to reach farther

I am fall
With the summery days
and the winterly nights

Like pink
I am soft
and blissful

I am a hummingbird, humming
Flapping my wings
Waiting for what is to bring

I am the Sunrise
At peace and at ease

Like a clarinet
Smooth and loud

Sweet and full of sugar
I'm like a cinnabun
Always loving some fun

I''m like New York
Busy and awake in the night
Never turning out the light

I'm like a favorite book
Never ending
and will be starting a new beginning

I'm like what i want to be
just me

My Accomplishment by Melissa Ly

On a sunny, noisy, happy day

I knew what I had to do

I had to learn to ride

          So I tried and tried

          Through all of the determination

          I did it

I had learned to ride my bike

          So many feelings at once

          Accomplished, and excited

           I couldn’t wait to practice

           It was an unforgettable

           Memory

My New York Haiku by Melissa Ly

Crowded streets are full

Busy people are running

Cars are rushing past me

In A New York Night by Melissa Ly

Tall, high, sky scrapers

In the cool night we party

The bright lights wake us

Smile by Melissa Ly

A smile

Makes me happy

Harsh words make turn sad

Many things make us feel good

Many other things make us feel bad

What makes this world beautiful?

The people make this world beautiful

Our love makes it beautiful

Pain, War, and hatred

Makes the world mysterious

In my mind

Everyday I see and hear

Different news

Some make the world a better place

Some do not

I wonder why,

Why we hurt

One another why can’t we just,

Just smile

And look toward

The better day.
