Summer
I remember my arrival, greeted by the sun.
Only 6yrs old, excited for my camp time.
Watching children laugh and play couldn’t wait to join.
Met my roommates, friends for life, joyful faces remembered for life.
Happy to arrive, sad to say goodbye.
Summertime came and went, only 1 fun week of camp time.
Wished for more memories of crickets singing in the night.
Hoped to wake up to the sounds of birds in flight.
Woke to screeching cars and screaming kids,
No longer lost in the tiring events of happy go lucky camp life.
Me and Not U!
I brighten your life like sunshine on a cloudy day.
I am like a dog, always there to comfort a friend.
I am an irresistible milkshake; you can’t get enough of me.
Sacred and beautiful, always welcoming like the Taj Mahal.
Dazzling and unique, I am like the Starry Night.
Bright and bold I match with the color pink.
Loud but with reason, a trombone is what I could be.
Colorful like a parrot yet dependent on myself.
Hot like summer with rain showers in between.
Smooth and sleek like a Cadillac cruising through life.
Just like Beauty not realizing all my potential until someone finds it.
Crisp like the morning yet slower in the afternoons.
That’s me, and not you.
City Sounds
Cover your ears fast
Before sound enters your head
Making you dizzy
Pollution
Smoke clogs your lungs up
Coughing, sneezing, eyes water
Lots of smoke and cars
Poetry Hides
Blinking, sighing, speaking, crying
Feelings lost, hate regained
Screaming shouting, anger is were poetry hides
Smile, laugh, tease and play
Friends forever from today
Hold me when the tears come down
Look around and make me proud.
Friendship is where poetry hides.
Hold my hand, kisses tender
Make me laugh through my eyes
Blushing faces, hearts are racing
Love is where poetry hides.
Poetry lies in the face of danger.
Poetry lies at the feet of anger.
Poetry lies at the heart of love.
Poetry lies at the center of life.
